During the last few years there has been a real government focus on developing enterprise skills in young people. This course is designed to help pupils develop enterprise capabilities and characteristics.
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate, pupils must complete 3 mandatory units:
Unit one: Understand and explore enterprise
capabilities
Unit two: Plan and carry out an enterprising project
Unit three: Evaluation of enterprise project and
self-development

Course details
In this course, learners will need to work through all 3 Units to achieve the Certificate.
Here's a taste of what they will cover:
Unit one: Understand and explore enterprise capabilities
- Identify the key characteristics and capabilities of successful entrepreneurs
- Evaluate a project idea
- Create a project plan
- Understand the importance of good financial control.
Unit two: Plan and carry out an enterprising project
- Identify the resources needed to carry out an enterprise project
- Understand how to work effectively in teams
- Know the importance of good communication
- Understand how to maintain effective relationships.
Unit three: Evaluation of enterprise project and self-development
- Understand how and where to obtain feedback
- Identify the knowledge gained from the enterprise project
- Make a plan for future development.
How long does it take?
Enterprise Skills Project is designed as a 120-hour course. Pupils can study flexibly at their own pace depending upon the time made available for their studies.
Course delivery and assessment
The course is offered online with vision2learn – an innovative web-based learning system, which you and your pupils can access via PC from school or home. The online course contains all of the learning content needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course, as well as activities to enable your pupils to practise their skills and test their learning receiving additional help and support from you as you are always just a click away.
About the qualification
Studying Enterprise Skills Project leads to the accredited qualification NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Developing Enterprise Capabilities, which helps your pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of this subject.
In order to successfully achieve the qualification your pupils will need to complete a series of assessments as they work through each unit of the course, which they’ll send to you through the v-mail system on vision2learn. You will assess these and they will build up to form each pupil’s portfolio of evidence of learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for all three units.
The computer kit you’ll need
- An Internet enabled PC running MS Windows and Internet Explorer 5 (or later), or Netscape 6 (or later), with JavaScript and cookies enabled
- Email software and an active email account
- Microsoft Word or similar word processing package
- Microsoft Access or similar database package
- Download Adobe Acrobat.
- Download Flash player
