OCR iMedia Level 2
OCR iMedia Level 2 gives learners the opportunity to build on their existing digital arts skills, covering digital graphics, web authoring and digital animation. This course is great for those learners currently working in, or preparing to work in, the dynamic interactive media industry. It’s also ideal for anyone looking to develop their skills in this area for recreational use.

Course details
In this course, learners will work through three study Units. Here’s a taste of what they will cover:
Unit one: Digital graphics
- Obtaining digital graphics
- Image manipulation software
- Basic editing techniques
- Using colours
- Using layers
- How to edit graphics for different purposes
Unit two: Web authoring
- Website basics
- Creating a simple website
- Using images and hyperlinks
- Adding content to your site
- Evaluating your site
Unit three: Digital animation
- Animation basics
- Creating simple graphics
- Digital animation
- Symbols and instances
- Creating an animation for a particular purpose
How long does it take?
OCR iMedia Level 2 is designed as a 90-hour course. Learners can flexibly study at their own pace, depending upon the time made available for their studies.
Course delivery and assessment
The course is offered online with vision2learn – an innovative web-based learning system, which you and your pupils can access via PC from school or home. The online course contains all of the learning content needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course, as well as activities to enable your pupils to practise their skills and test their learning receiving additional help and support from you as you are always just a click away.
About the qualification
Studying OCR iMedia Level 2 leads to the accredited OCR Level 2 Certificate for iMedia Users, which helps your pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of this subject.
In order to successfully achieve a qualification, your pupils will need to complete a series of Assessments as they work through each Session of the course, which they’ll send to you through the v-mail system on vision2learn. You will assess these and they will build up to form each pupil-s portfolio of evidence of learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the three Units of the course.
The computer kit needed
- An Internet enabled PC running MS Windows and Internet Explorer 5 (or later), or Netscape 6 (or later), with JavaScript and cookies enabled
- Email software and an active email account
- Adobe Photoshop or similar image manipulation program
- Macromedia Dreamweaver or similar web authoring program
- Macromedia Flash or similar digital animation program
- Download Adobe Acrobat.
