Equality and Diversity
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Equality and Diversity (QCF)
We live in a diverse society and come into contact with people who have different backgrounds, views, values and beliefs. This course will help pupils to develop their knowledge of the issues and anti-discrimination laws that relate to equality and diversity.
The course includes units on the following topics: exploring equality and diversity, working or learning in a place that promotes diversity and living in diverse communities.
Course details
In this course, learners will need to work through 1 unit from Section A and 1 unit from Section B to achieve the Certificate. Units one, three and four are currently available on vision2learn for schools.

Unit one
Exploring equality and diversity
- The meaning and importance of equality and equal opportunity
- Which individual and social characteristics form the basis of diversity
- How different beliefs and value systems contribute to diversity
- Stereotyping and labelling and their effects
- Prejudice and discrimination and their effects
Unit two
Section B
Unit three
Working or learning in a place that promotes diversity
- Applying your knowledge of equality and diversity to your workplace, school or learning centre
- How workplaces can have processes in place to protect, maintain and monitor equality and diversity
- The value to the workplace in creating and maintaining a diverse environment
- What can be done to overcome bad practice in the workplace
- The consequences for an organisation of not trying to create and maintain a diverse and equal environment
